You’ve got to ACCENT the POSITIVE!
You have likely come across several books about positive affirmations and how they can work for you. Basically, if you believe just a little in what you are affirming i.e. I like myself, then stating that as an affirmation over and over again will reinforce that belief in your subconscious mind. It takes 21 days for the subconscious mind to instill a belief into your belief system…be it negative or positive. So affirmations stated repetitively will eventually stick. In EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, of which I am a Practitioner), there is a very easy way around this inward twinge of guilt that what you are affirming just isn’t so. That is to use Patricia Carrington’s choices method. You can simply affirm that you CHOOSE to like yourself. Given a choice we would all CHOOSE to like ourselves, so this resonates with your belief system (subconscious mind) and becomes more effective. Try it!
